The Kansas City Chiefs are flat-out bossing it at U.S. Bank Stadium, taking charge of the Minnesota Vikings with a 27-20 lead in the fourth quarter. And while this place was buzzing, with fans all hyped up, thinking they’d spot Taylor Swift in the stands, maybe cheering for her rumored beau Travis Kelce. But hey, plot twist: instead of the 33-year-old prominent cultural figure, we got some MLB royalty rollin’ in to catch this nail-biter.

Coming back to Travis Kelce, the Chiefs’ reliable tight end had a little run-in with fate during the second quarter. But what if he’s just taking a breather?

The artificial turf claims a second victim

In the heat of the action, right in the middle of the second quarter, Travis Kelce took an unexpected slip ‘n’ slide on the U.S. Bank Stadium turf while trying to catch a pass. #87’s right foot took a beating in the process. NFL sleuth Don Kleiman was all over it, sharing the moment on ‘X’ with a caption that screamed, “Oh no, Travis Kelce is limping after this play.”

The 34-year-old warrior made his way to the sidelines, limping but still under his own steam. In a fit of frustration, he unleashed his inner Hulk and slammed that helmet to the ground!

CBS Sports sideline maestro Tracy Wolfson dropped the bombshell that Kelce was headed to the locker room for some X-ray action on that foot. Before his abrupt exit, Kelce racked up quite a few stats, with five catches for 22 yards. But Kelce wasn’t going to let a little foot trouble keep him down. After a brief sideline stint to regroup in the third quarter, he strapped that foot up and got back in the action. Just when you thought he was down for the count, he snagged a sweet 4-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes with less than three minutes left in the quarter. That’s what we call a comeback, NFL style!

Interestingly, it’s not just Travis Kelce feeling the pain on that artificial turf. Remember Week 1? New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers suffered an ACL injury after a tumble on MetLife Stadium’s artificial turf in New York. It seems like these fields are out for blood this season!
