Legendary football coach Jim Harbaugh was always considered a person who could influence change and help the future during his time with the Michigan Wolverines. Before Harbaugh arrived in 2014, the team suffered from mediocrity, having almost as many losses as wins in 2013 and 2012, showcasing a clear performance downfall. However, after his arrival, things looked positive for the team, showing signs of improvement with every passing game.

Harbaugh’s strategy and approach toward coaching revitalized the Michigan football program. Colin Cowherd, on UNDISPUTED TODAY, compared Harbaugh’s resilience and determination to overcome obstacles to Steve Jobs.

Cowherd drew parallels with Steve Jobs’s relentless pursuit of innovation. Regarding Harbaugh’s influence on the team, Colin said, “That is one of the great turnarounds in the league’s history. When he went to Michigan, Michigan was a mess.” Channeling Harbaugh’s inner Steve Jobs, he added, “It’s a little Steve Jobs. It’s not that Steve Jobs didn’t immediately innovate, but there are no gears with Steve Jobs; it’s just ascension. It’s keep moving up.

With the 2024 draft approaching, many existing Michigan players have decided to begin the next step in their careers by declaring for the draft. But Michigan’s roster is not completely empty.

Michigan’s situation with the draft approaching

While the most significant departures are QB JJ McCarthy and RB Blake Corum, other significant members of the roster have also left, prompting their ‘understudies’ to step up. Their struggling offense has also seen significant departures in Myles Hinton and Josh Priebe. Cornelius Johnson and Roman Wilson have left, putting pressure on Semaj Morgan and Tyler Morris to step up.

While tight end AJ Barner has departed, running back Donovan Edwards has decided to stay helping the team’s depth, followed by the return of Colston Loveland, Max Bredeson and Matt Hibner. Linebackers Junior Colson and Michael Barrett have also left, leaving room for Ernest Hausmann and Jaishawn Barham to step in.

Despite his departure, Harbaugh has firmly transformed the football culture at Michigan.
