“Carson Wentz Silenced His Doubters”- Former NFL Player Lauds Eagles Quarterback

By 2 months ago

Carson Wentz proved why he is the quarterback that the Eagles’ faithful need to support in 2020. The seasoned shot-caller kept his calm to lead his team to their first win of the season against a hurting San Francisco 49ers outfit.

The home team were without their first-choice starter, Jimmy Garoppolo, for the second consecutive week. But it looked like they would sneak a win after taking the lead in the third quarter. However, Wentz put in a strong performance in the final quarter and led the Eagles to a 20-25 win at the Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.

On the latest segment of Speak For Yourself, host Emmanuel Acho heaped praise on the under-pressure Carson Wentz after his game-winning performance against the 49ers.

“Carson Wentz silenced his doubters because the only thing his doubters were uttering was ‘Play Jalen Hurts, Play Jalen Hurts’…Carson Wentz went in, rescued not only Jalen Hurts but the Eagles, Doug Pederson, and their season.

“Silenced you, the rest of the doubters, and have the Eagles at first place in the NFC,” Acho said on the show.

Wentz completed 18 of his 28 attempted passes. He threw for 190+ yards with one passing TD against one interception.

Despite the win, the Eagles have a lot to work on in the coming weeks. If they want to make the Playoffs like last season, Wentz will have to be more consistent over the next two weeks.

Carson Wentz and his teammates take on two strong teams in Week Five and Six, respectively. They play Ben Roethlisberger’s unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers away this weekend. Following that, they go up against Lamar Jackson-led Baltimore Ravens in Week Six.

Rookie Jalen Hurts got his chance against the 49ers, but Wentz will be the starter for the Eagles moving forward.
