Last season was very tricky for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. They had a poor start but got things right later, toward the end of the regular season, and were primed to go to their 3rd straight Super Bowl.

Even though Mahomes had decent numbers, it was the worst season of his young NFL career. Notably, the worst game of his career also came then. After having two great performances in the first two playoff games, Mahomes entered the AFC Championship game with full confidence.
Patrick Mahomes started the game pretty well, and the Chiefs had a surreal lead at the end of the first half. The Chiefs were completely blown up in the second half and lost to the Cincinnati Bengals at home. After that 2nd half performance, Mahomes received a lot of criticism.
To this day, his fans are talking about that choke job he did and how it prevented him from being on track to catch Tom Brady.
Patrick Mahomes didn't get nearly enough shit for choking away the AFC Championship Game last year. He wasted a golden chance to win a 2nd ring and keep pace with Brady's resume.

As a Chiefs fan I admit, after I watching them choke my entire life, that was the worst choke job in the history of the franchise which has been riddled with choking moments

Rodgers is 11-10 in the playoffs. Mahomes is 8-3. That meme isn't funny unless they're comparable. Which they clearly aren't in this instance.

Some of that is on Mahomes, dude needs to learn that the entire offense doesn't have to revolve around him. I can assure you he knows this though which is what makes him great.

Some had a different opinion on the matter:
Lets take a sec to remember the wild card against the titans in 2017 that was miles worse than this one

The Maholmes Favre comparison is really more apt than KC fans give credit for.

The Kansas City Chiefs led the Bengals by 21-10, heading into halftime. After that, Mahomes and the Chiefs were able to score just 3 points for the rest of the game, and they lost in overtime.
With the way their offense clicked in the first two playoff games and in the first half against the Bengals, could it be said that the Chiefs could have defeated the Rams in the Super Bowl? Anyhow, it was a missed opportunity and will hinder Mahomes until he wins another Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
Patrick Mahomes has a chance to seek redemption in the upcoming season
Many people are doubting the ability of Patrick Mahomes to play without Tyreek Hill in the upcoming season of the NFL. Losing your WR1 is tough for any quarterback in the league. However, it gives Mahomes a huge opportunity as well.

He now has a chance to prove his greatness further. Some believe that since his debut in the league, Tyreek Hill has acted as a safety blanket for him. As a result, Mahomes has the opportunity to show the world that he can achieve success without ‘The Cheetah’ as well.

The Chiefs will head into the next season among the favorites to win it all. However, the road ahead will be tougher than ever. Their own division will be a mountain to climb. Moreover, other teams in the AFC have also strengthened themselves in the offseason.
