From LSU to Bengals; Ja’Marr Chase Describes His Relationship With Joe Burrow: ‘I Just Lean On Him Like He’s My Older Brother’

Cris Carter and Randy Moss. John Stallworth and Lynn Swann. Jerry Rice and John Taylor. These are some of the greatest quarterback and wide receiver duos in the history of the NFL. There is another duo that might join the likes of these names. The Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. 

Both of them met while playing football at college, LSU, and have been playing together since then. Chase and Burrow instantly connected. They appreciate each other and earned each other’s respect. So, what are Ja’Marr Chase’s views on his quarterback Joe Burrow?

The relationship between Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase

Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow have played together for three seasons. Two in LSU and one in the NFL. During their college days, Burrow used to study tape. He used to watch old games and learn about all the different techniques of the defense. He stressed the value of watching old films on others. Chase agreed with Burrow, and he was often praised for his detailed study of the tape. Both of them bonded in LSU and on the field.

During the 2021 draft, Joe texted Ja’Marr. He told the wide receiver to pack his bags and prepare for Cincinnati. They both will reunite in Ohio. Later on, Burrow’s text turned true, and both of them were once again playing for the same team.

The duo of Chase and Burrow has not spent a lot of time off the field together. But they both have mutual respect. Their game does the talking. On the field, they both are unstoppable. 

Ja’Marr Chase looks at Burrow like a big brother

From running down the field in Louisiana to playing football every week in Cincinnati, Chase and Burrow have come a long way. In their first year together in the NFL, Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase have won the AFC championship. They have carried the Bengals to the Super Bowl for the first time in 34 years.

“He’s very different,” Chase said after winning the AFC Championship. “He’s very confident. He’s someone you want to be around. He’s growing as a person. I want to grow as myself. I just stay with him, ask him questions. I just lean on him like he’s my older brother, basically.” Burrow and Chase have won championships for their college.
