Kansas City Chiefs had a debut moment a few days ago. They made their first appearance alongside POTUS Joe Biden at the Whitehouse on June 5. This visit is part of a long-standing tradition of national league champions making their way to the White House to celebrate their championships. The Chiefs missed their first appearance during Donald Trump’s reign in 2020, because of the growing pandemic crisis. But Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and the rest of the Chiefs squad made sure to make their appearance this year, on an eventful day at the White House.

The day saw various highlights, as Joe Biden welcomed the Super Bowl LVII winning team and Travis Kelce had quite a few standout moments during the visit. But his initial encounter with POTUS was a moment that left him with trembling knees. 

Travis Kelce remembers his initial encounter with Joe Biden

During a recent episode of the ‘New Heights’ podcast, Travis Kelce recalled his day at the White House along with his team. He talked about how he went to the White House carrying an expired license as an ID. And this led to Joe Biden hilariously questioning him about the whereabouts of his identification for his access to the White House.

Kelce talked about how it was also ironically the first thing POTUS told him. He said. “He immediately asked me where’s my ID. Those were his first words. I said Mr. President, it’s a pleasure. He said where’s your ID. Where’s your ID? I was just like oh no, they confiscated it at the door. I don’t have it on me. He looked at his secret service, and said get this son of a b***h out of here.” Kelce went on to talk about how he had a lot to do in the Oval Office just like Nicolas Cage in the movie National Treasure, where he raids the White House.

And that was not the only highlight Travis Kelce had during his visit. He was also saved by Patrick Mahomes from making a public embarrassment of himself. 

Patrick Mahomes swoops in to save Kelce from embarrassing himself

The Chiefs gifted Joe Biden his very own Chiefs jersey with the number 46 on it. While Mahomes and Biden were busy chatting while gazing at the Lombardi Trophy, Travis Kelce saw it as a moment of opportunity to tip-toe toward the presidential podium to give a speech. As soon as Kelce began, he was interrupted by their QB, who made sure Kelce did not embarrass himself in front of POTUS and the media. We could see Mahomes said sorry, as he escorted his TE back to the group. The people present roared into laughter, as Kelce has his ways to tickle the funny bones of people now and then.

While the Chiefs will reminisce about their White House visit, they will also be looking forward to preparing for the new season of the NFL. Who knows, maybe another Super Bowl Championship is in the making for the Chiefs’ kingdom?
