“He’s Gotta Play Better”- Kyle Shanahan Wants Jimmy Garoppolo to Take Charge

Kyler Murray was the star in Sunday’s win over the San Francisco 49ers at the Levi’s Stadium. The former Heisman Trophy winner threw for 230 yards with one passing TD and one interception.
He had 13 carries, with 90+ rushing yards and one rushing TD. He was fantastic throughout the game. The same could not be said for his opponent, Jimmy Garoppolo.
Garoppolo threw for 249 passing yards and got two TDs. However, he just completed 19 of his 33 attempted passes.

Here’s what Kyle Shanahan said about his star quarterback in the post-game presser.
“He had some good plays in there, but just like the rest of the offense (he) had some missed opportunities. He’s gotta play better. We’ve all gotta play better. The entire offense missed opportunities. Shanahan told NFL reporter John Dickinson.

Garoppolo himself wasn’t too pleased with his display on Sunday. Here’s what he told the press after the game. He said, “I can’t really put my finger on one (play) right now, but there’s a number of them. Missed throws, missed opportunities we usually make.”
The 49ers don’t have any time to sulk following their opening week disappointment. Kyle Shanahan’s boys go on the road now as they play New York Jets and the New York Giants over the next two weeks.
