Baker Mayfield speaks about relinquishing his role
PJ Walker took Mayfield’s place in their game against the Atlanta Falcons. Mayfield stated that he’s a competitor and will help the team out in whatever way possible.
Speaking to ESPN, Mayfield said, “I came here to win. If it’s my role to help PJ out from the sideline and help this defense out with scout team stuff, I’m gonna do it. And I’m gonna do it with everything I can.”

Although the Panthers have had more wins than losses for the majority of the season so far, their defeat against the Falcons probably stung too hard. Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota was able to throw three touchdown passes against the Falcons.

In the eighth week of the season, the Panthers are at 2-6. With an uncertain Mayfield situation, the Panthers will have to sort out their offensive situation. Although they looked marginally better against the Falcons, the team will have to win more games. Their surprise victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was a shock to everyone in the NFL world. Panthers fans will hope for more such pleasant surprises in the upcoming games.
