Andy Dalton, Dallas Cowboys‘ quarterback, has gone through a rough 3 weeks. But amidst all the struggle, he returns to his team to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

First, he underwent a concussion after being illegally hit by Jon Bostic, Washington’s linebacker. But that was not where Dalton’s trouble ended. COVID-19 struck his entire family.

What Dalton revealed was that his memory from the concussion is hazy, but the ones from his fight against the coronavirus are there.

“The COVID, it hit me hard the first day I had it, then it gradually started feeling better,” he further added. “By the end of it, I was ready to get out of quarantine and get back up here.”

Dalton had been knocked out of 2 games and the Cowboys’ bye week, because of COVID-19 and the concussion. But Covid could not have kept the quarterback down for too long. Dalton has graced the files and has been preparing himself for the match against Minnesota Vikings.

It was a crazy three weeks for me, but I’m glad to be on the other side of it,” said Dalton. “I’m glad to be back with everybody and through those three weeks,” he added further. Although he still lacks the senses of taste and smell, he is still trying to get them back.

The 33-year-old quarterback is unaware of how and where he contracted the coronavirus, and his wife and son also tested positive. “Everyone in the family is healthy and back to normal,” said Dalton.

“It was a little frustrating,” Dalton said. “You miss the one game because of the concussion, first time dealing with that, and then the COVID. It’s like, it all kind of hit at once. I wish I could have been out there. I wish I could have played in the two games that I missed.”

What’s in the past remains in the past, what one can control is how their future turns out, so it’s better to focus on carving the future rather than regretting the past.

The Cowboys sit at 2-7 a very tough spot, but they can bounce back as they are still not out of the game.

“Everything is out in front of us,” Dalton said. “That’s the crazy thing with how this season has gone. Some games we feel like we have had chances in. All of that stuff doesn’t matter at this point. Now we have to move forward. We have to think about these next seven games, and that is all our focus is — what we have in front of us.”

Dalton beat the Coronavirus and is back in the game now. Dallas needs its quarterback to lead them into a winning spree, in case the cowboys still hope to win.
