August 22, 2020 9:44 pm

George Kittle has gone from being a fifth-round pick to an established first-team starter for the San Francisco 49ers. Kittle’s stock has been on the rise since 2018. He was a crucial cog in Kyle Shanahan’s offense last year as they made their way to the Super Bowl in Miami. Despite a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the 49ers start the current season as one of the favorites to go all the way once again.

Kittle recently penned a five-year contract extension worth $75 million. In doing so, Kittle is now the highest-paid tight end in NFL history overtaking Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce. Kittle is a leader in the 49ers dressing room. Along with Jimmy G, Richard Sherman, and Kittle, the 49ers have a strong leadership core.

San Francisco 49ers’ John Lynch talks about potential George Kittle showdown

San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch was definitely a terror during his playing days. The NFL executive featured as a strong safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos and New England Patriots during his playing days. Here’s what Lynch said about a potential square-off with star George Kittle.

While speaking on the podcast, he said “The first day he came here, he said ‘Mr. Lynch,’ he still calls me Mr. Lynch. ‘Mr. Lynch, someday we gotta go out there, I wanna do a one-on-one against you.’ And I said no, those days are gone. Especially with the money we’re paying him now, I’m not taking any chances, I’m not going out there.”

“I’d probably be the one getting hurt, but I’m not taking the chance there,” Lynch said on ‘The TK Show.

Lynch was a feared safety during his Tampa Bay days. He won the Super Bowl while playing for the Florida-based franchise during his early playing days. For his sake and for the sake of 49ers, let’s hope that Kittle spares Lynch the trouble of going head-to-head on the field.
