The ongoing contract dispute between Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants continues to cast uncertainty over the team’s backfield. In a strategic move to address potential gaps, the Giants wasted no time in securing veteran running back James Robinson on a training camp deal. Robinson, who previously played for the New York Jets, gained fame as a 1,000-yard rusher during his rookie season in 2020.

As Robinson’s long-term role with the Giants remains uncertain, his signing signifies the club’s proactive approach. Moreover, Barkley, a key player for the team, chose to decline the franchise tag and couldn’t reach a long-term contract agreement with the Giants before the deadline.
