Omar Kelly Believes NFL Only Finds Quarterbacks Marketable: “Look at Aaron Donald…. Do You See the NFL Marketing Him?”

The NFL is one of the most popular and iconic competitions in all of American Sports. In a similar fashion to certain sports, the NFL has some positions on the football field more valuable and attractive than others. The role of the QB in an NFL franchise is much more than his performance on the field. It is because of the other factors that they command a greater amount of the spotlight.

During a recent episode of the “I Am Athlete” podcast, one of the co-hosts, Omar Kelly, let loose on this notion. Kelly was visibly not pleased with the treatment of certain players receive who are not from the QB position despite being some of the best-skilled players. He believes that the league is ignoring the work players do on the defensive side of the game.

While talking about it on the show, he states, “The NFL not gonna market you. I mean y’all don’t know that yet. If you are not a quarterback, the NFL is not gonna market you…Look at Aaron Donald. Aaron Donald is probably the best defensive player, probably top 5 players in the league right now. Do you see the NFL marketing him?”

The power of the NFL marketing

Despite being against many problems with sponsors during the global health crisis, the NFL still managed to keep the games running. While it was without the fans, they managed to navigate through a difficult time. Similarly, the NFL seems to be banking only on the attractive aspects of the games, and that includes the quarterbacks and the wide receivers.

But there remains only a few defensive players who are famous among the casual fans of the game. A huge reason for such an occurrence is the lack of a financial push. The league fails to make players like Donald appear a million dollars to their fans. The Rams DT did have one of the biggest plays during the closing moments of the Super Bowl LVI game.

The current landscape of the NFL does have fans who enjoy the game for the offensive outputs of the players. But there remains a small section of fans who don’t know about the work on the defensive side. The NFL fans are always shown the heroic offensive passes but very few defensive clinics. All those special moments were given to fans by players like Aaron Donald and are something that gets lost on occasions.
