QB Baker Mayfield Spills the Beans for His Next NFL Team as Cleveland Browns Departure Draws Closer

The silence from Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield about his future seems to be deafening for his fans, with trade rumors gaining momentum. The former No.1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft has been mulling over his options following the Browns acquiring QB Deshaun Watson. Mayfield and his wife recently might have given fans a peep into his NFL future as the pair are enjoying the offseason.

On her personal Instagram account, Emily posted a picture of the pair together, enjoying their day in a bar. In the photo, a chair was in the background with the brewery logo, which led fans to scour the internet. Among them, was Seattle Seahawks Insider Corbin K. Smith, who took to Twitter after getting information that Mayfield was in Snohomish, Washington.

While the occurrence should not be a surprise for fans since Mayfield has stated his desire to play for the team. The Seahawks fanbase is entering a difficult phase after the trade of superstar QB Russell Wilson. It has led to many Seahawks fans either, getting excited while others dismiss it as a coincidence.

The wheels seem to be in motion for the arrival of Baker Mayfield

The Seahawks franchise has been working behind the scenes curating a plan to add Mayfield to their roster. On Friday, Seahawks waived rookie QB Levi Lewis out of Louisiana-Lafayette. The franchise signed him as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft. With Lewis out, the franchise now has a vacant spot in their QB room and only 3 QBs as the season approaches.

During the annual league meetings, head coach Pete Carroll admits his non-hesitancy approach to having multiple QBs. He believes it will ensure healthy competition in his QB room. So signing Mayfield and adding him to the roster will be a no-brainer for Carroll as he looks to keep 4 competent QBs.

But they could face competition from the Carolina Panthers for his services. Both the Panthers and Seahawks will depend upon the Browns to take a bigger portion of his contract.

The 2022 NFL campaign will bring the franchise some fresh faces at the QB position. It will usher the beginning of a new era under potentially the Browns QB. Mayfield also will have a chip on his shoulder as he looks to prove his abilities to all his doubters.
