The New England Patriots are trying to outshine the opponents with strategic moves and employing some space in their salary cap. The Patriots are releasing backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham to the Las Vegas Raiders with a seventh-round pick of the 2023 NFL draft pick.
The Patriots will receive a sixth-round selection in the 2023 NFL draft. Moreover, a leg space to adjust their salary cap as they have been staggered for the past few weeks now. The move comes days after the Patriots drafted Bailey Zappe out of Western Kentucky in this year’s draft. The 25-year-old quarterback is scheduled to earn a base salary of $965,000 entering his fourth season of the rookie contract.

Once the deal is officiated, the New England Patriots will have Western Kentucky’s Bailey Zappe, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft. Zappe has an impressive college record. During his time at Western Kentucky, he got 5,967 yards and 62 touchdowns. Moreover, he is going to secure a spot as the third-string quarterback behind backup Brian Hoyer and Jones.
So the Patriots already have enough QBs to fill the rooms; however, the question is, do they have someone as impactful as the 44-year-old Tom Brady on the roster.

Maybe his time at Patriots was not very eventful. But his future looks bright as he joins Derek Carr and Nick Mullens. Moreover, the Raiders also have a third-string QB in the form of Garrett Gilbert, who the team signed back in March and will serve as a prime competitor for Stidham to plunge his roots in the AFC West.
