Troy Aikman surprised everyone by joining ESPN as the lead analyst for “Monday Night Football.” Due to Aikman’s decision, Amazon is unsure of who to pair with Al Michaels for “Thursday Night Football.” Nevertheless, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Amazon may target the LA Rams Super Bowl-winning coach, Sean McVay.

Following a long tenure on Fox Sports, Aikman has finally joined ESPN. According to reports, Amazon Prime was seeking out Aikman to collaborate with Al Michaels as an in-booth partner. Due to Aikman’s choice of ESPN, Marchand reported that Amazon may be interested in signing McVay for the same job.

Amazon is on the hunt for Sean McVay and is ready to pay him big

If McVay chooses to leave the Rams sidelines this off-season, Amazon is seriously interested in signing him. Therefore, McVay might have a great post-retirement job in television if he decides to retire from coaching.

As reported, McVay makes $8.5 million with the Los Angeles Rams and is under contract through the 2023 season. However, he can make $15 million-plus per year with Amazon in the broadcasting role. Even though Amazon’s target seems a bit farfetched, it will be interesting to see what McVay decides this offseason.

Does McVay plan to retire from football?

In the wake of the Super Bowl victory, McVay was asked if he could step away from coaching. McVay replied, “I don’t really know. I know I love football and I’m so invested in this thing and I’m in the moment right now.”

“But at some point………… I want to be able to have a family and I want to be able to spend time with them.” Thus, nothing about his future in the league could be determined based on his answer.

Meanwhile, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that McVay informed him via text message that he was “committed to this team and coaching.” Additionally, Veronika Khomyn, McVay’s fiance’, posted on Instagram that the Rams coach is not retiring.

Therefore, McVay’s position in the league remains uncertain. However, one thing is for sure, if he chooses to retire, he will have a broadcasting job waiting for him.
