San Francisco 49ers are not taking any risks, having ruled out star tight end George Kittle for the weekend game against the New York Giants. The MetLife Stadium has not been kind to the 49ers. Head Coach Kyle Shanahan will not risk Kittle who is currently recovering from a knee injury.

In addition to Kittle, the 49ers have also been hit with multiple injuries to star players. Nick Bosa was ruled out for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury. RB’s Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert are also out for the game against New York Giants on Sunday, while quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo also misses out. Backup QB Nick Mullens is set to start for the first time this season.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints will be without all-star wide receiver Michael Thomas for the second week running. The Saints host the Aaron Rodgers-led Green Bay Packers at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in Week Three.

The visitors will also most-likely miss out on the services of experienced wideout, Davante Adams. Head Coach Matt LaFleur said he was a ‘doubt’ for Sunday’s away game.

A major factor behind this epidemic of injuries could be the shorter pre-season schedule, which was a direct consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of seven players suffered season-ending ACL tears last week, including Giants running back Saquon Barkley.

Let’s hope Gameweek Three is better for teams across the NFL, injury-wise.
