The Cowboys Legend knows what it takes to win a Super Bowl! Troy Aikman did it three times as the Dallas Cowboys quarterback in the 1990s. Now, as a game analyst for Monday Night Football on ESPN, Aikman watches his former team closely and shares his insights with the viewers. He has seen Dak Prescott, the current Cowboys’ quarterback, struggle and succeed in the playoffs. Prescott has a 2-4 record in the postseason, with his first win coming in 2018 against the Seahawks and his latest one in 2022 against the Buccaneers.

In that game, Prescott matched Troy Aikman’s record of four passing touchdowns in a playoff game and added a rushing score. But Aikman also knows that the Cowboys have a missing piece that prevents them from reaching the Super Bowl.

Troy Aikman does not shy away from giving his honest and fair opinions on his former team, even if they are not always flattering. Per recent reports, Aikman recognizes the talent, but also pinpoints the Cowboys’ weaknesses,

“The problem for them, and they don’t need me to tell them this, they just have not played their best football when the games have mattered the most.” “You say, ‘How do you change that?’ No one has the answer to that,” Aikman stated.

Aikman admits that he does not know how to fix the Cowboys’ problem, but he offers a piece of simple advice: “I don’t have the answer to that. For our teams (in the ‘90s), the reason we succeeded and did what we were able to do, the reason teams all win Super Bowls, is they play their best football in the biggest games?” He also shows his respect and appreciation for Dak Prescott, the man who inherited his position as the Cowboys’ quarterback.
