NFL teams are working in overdrive this past week in order to land their respective free-agent targets. New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, and the New York Jets have been some of the busier teams from the rest of the lot.

The latter recently added DB/ST Justin Hardee to their roster on a 3-year deal. The former New Orleans Saints man ended his 3-year stay with coach Sean Payton in order to move to the Big Apple this summer.

Despite signing a deal worth a reported total of $5.25 million, Hardee will only take home $1 million guaranteed. However, that does not seem to deter the former Saints man who went undrafted at the 2017 NFL Draft.

Justin Hardee does not hold back after signing for New York Jets

Speaking to the media at his first press conference, Justin Hardee was asked about his displays as part of the special teams’ roster for New Orleans. He did not hold back in his reply as he gave a glimpse into the emotional aspect of his game.

“I don’t know if you all can see me but right here my heart so we mean that’s why I’m good at it cuz I got heart I won’t back down. I’m a maniac on the field. I just play with grid man and play. Like I’m trying to feed my son.

“I play like I told my mother that I was gonna play hard. You know she’s up in the sky watching me. I cannot disappoint her. That’s why I believe I’m good at special teams because I will not be denied,” Hardee said earlier today.

Here’s a look at some of Hardee’s career highlights compiled by a Jets fan.

After failing to impress the Bill O’Brien-coached Houston Texans, Hardee was signed by Sean Payton’s New Orleans Saints in September 2017.

He rose to fame in Week 9 after he blocked a punt by Bryan Anger and returned it for a touchdown in a 30–10 win over NFC South rivals Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His exploits earned him the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award.

He will hope to replicate similar displays for the Jets in the coming years. Judging by his passion in the above interview, coach Robert Saleh has bagged a definite gem this summer!
