The 24-year-old’s collapse on the field after a collision with Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tee Higgins didn’t look that bad until the worst happened. However, with the prayers of the entire sporting world and the tireless medical staff behind him, Damar has made an incredibly quick recovery. Many celebrities took to social media to laud the efforts of the medical staff and the tennis legend Serena Williams‘ husband, Alexis Ohanian, was one of them.

The first few hours were the scariest ones. Damar had to be given CPR for eight minutes on the field after a cardiac arrest. And the Safety remained in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He continues to progress remarkably in his recovery. His neurologic function remains intact, and he has been able to talk to his family and care team.
