Nick Kyrgios Collapses in The First-Round of Zhuhai Open 2019

The Australian tennis player, Nick Kyrgios got defeated by Andreas Seppi at Zhuhai Open 2019. The sixth seed, Kyrgios lost 7-6(5), 6-1 in 65 minutes to the Italian tennis player in the opening round of the Chinese tournament.

World Number 27, Nick Kyrgios flew to China for the Zhuhai Open 2019 after spending three amusing days in Geneva, Switzerland at the Laver Cup 2019. Over there, he withdrew from his matches scheduled on Sunday and cited shoulder injury to be his reason for withdrawal. It was surprising to see Kyrgios playing professional tennis within two days after experiencing a shoulder injury this Sunday.

On Wednesday, in Zhuhai, Nick Kyrgios failed to concentrate on his game. The Australian was grumbling in the midst of the match and came with tweeners and underarm serves. His underarm serve in the fifth game of the match landed on the net.

The big server, Kyrgios was outshone by World Number 72, Seppi’s first serve in the first round match in Zhuhai. The Italian had good control over his serves and lost one service game to the fiery server.

The first set was rigid and the match was not seesawing. In the tiebreaker, Kyrgios recovered from a trail of three points, but an easy-going, Seppi pulled off the opening set. The second set was a straight forward one, with Kyrgios losing three games in six minutes and Seppi moved into the next round by defeating the Australian in straight sets.

Nick Kyrgios will be playing doubles tennis in Zhuhai. He will be in tandem with his compatriot, Matt Reid.

Meanwhile, on the other courts of Zhuhai, former World Number one, Andy Murray attained his ATP Tour first victory since his surgery in February. He defeated Tennys Sandgren in the opening open. He claimed it to be one of the best victories of his career.
