Novak Djokovic Apologizes to his Fans for Keeping them in the Dark

World No.1 Novak Djokovic provides an injury update amid speculations of shoulder surgery after the Serbian had withdrawn from the US Open 2019 due to an injury in his shoulder.

The defending champion was forced to retire from his fourth-round match at the US Open 2019 against Stan Wawrinka as he was unable to continue playing due to the pain in the shoulder, which had been affecting him from past several days.

Nova Djokovic, in an update on Twitter, made no mention of a shoulder injury as he made an apology to his fans for not keeping them in dark and not updating them about the status of his injury.

He wrote, “Sorry for keeping you guys in the dark these days. I‘m having a wonderful time with my family and actively working on my recovery so I can be ready for the Asian swing. My health is always top priority and as soon as I’m ready, I’ll be back.”

Djokovic also explained that he is still expecting himself to be ready for the Asian swing on the ATP Tour, starting from September 30. “I’ll keep you posted on my progress and thank you for your wishes for a fast recovery!” the 32-year-old said.

The 16-time Grand Slam champion is scheduled to play the Japan Open, which begins on September 30. However, there are speculations that Novak Djokovic might need shoulder surgery to fix the problem.

The world No.1 has a huge task ahead of him as he is defending around 2600 points in the remaining season as he is the defending champion at the Shanghai Masters and defending runner-up at the Paris Masters and ATP Finals. While the world No.2 Rafael Nadal, who claimed the US Open 2019 title last week is just 640 points behind the 32-year-old with no points to defend in the 2019 season.
