Novak Djokovic Sends a Warning Ahead of ATP World Tour Finals 2019

World Number two, Novak Djokovic seems determined to conclude his 2019 tennis season in the ‘best possible way’ and the Serb has a strong desire to get back on the ATP’s top once the season curtains down.

He is striving to become the World Number one tennis player and he has an unbroken contemplation on lifting the season finale title for the sixth time in his career. Possibly will a title victory he could conclude the tennis season as World Number one for the sixth time on the ATP Tour. 

“I’m also trying to find another, so to say, drop of necessary energy to finish off the season in the best possible way. So mentally I’m, you know, obviously like everybody else, but I’m talking for myself, trying to push myself even harder to really make the finish line, you know, as best possible,” Novak Djokovic said.

The thrilling race between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal for the World Number one spot will be a dramatic one. It will be interesting to watch their matches at ATP World Tour Finals 2019 as the Serb is trailing behind the top-ranked Spaniard by 640 ranking points.

Further, Novak Djokovic spoke about his comfort level on the indoor surfaces of tennis. Djokovic has made it to the finals on the indoor ATP courts 18 times in his career and the Serbian maestro has claimed 13 of them. From 2012 to 2015, Djokovic had a 38-match winning streak on the indoor courts.

“Indoor conditions have been very successful and suitable for my game. Throughout my career, I played really well both in Paris and London. I don’t know whether there is any other particular reason. I think it’s just suitable for my game,” the Serb added.

The 16-time Grand Slam champion, Djokovic further elucidated how the court speeds which effect the player’s game.

“You do make some adjustments, of course. The conditions are different on every surface. Everywhere you get to play, you know, ideally you have a couple of days of training and adaptation to the surface and conditions because usually the ball bounce and the speed of the surface is something that affects your game greatly. So you kind of have to figure out what is the best strike zone,” Djokovic explained.

The second seed at ATP World Tour Finals 2019, Novak Djokovic will be opening against the eighth seed, Matteo Berrettini in London, UK.
