Novak Djokovic Sends His Wishes to Rafael Nadal And Daniil Medvedev After US Open 2019 Final

World Number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic sent his heartiest congratulations to his friend and foe, Rafael Nadal for lifting up his 19th Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows. Also, he felicitated the new World Number four, Daniil Medvedev for his incredible summer in North America. It seems that the Serb, Djokovic rejoiced every part of the five-set Grand Slam final in New York.

“Congrats to Rafa for creating more history in our sport and showcasing amazing fighting spirit. And congrats to Daniil for an incredible summer on hardcourt in the USA. You should be proud of yourself. Great things to come for you. Well done boys & thank you for the fantastic match,” the Serbian tweeted.

Novak Djokovic was the defending champion at US Open 2019, however, he retired in the middle of his fourth-round match against the World Number 19, Stan Wawrinka due to his shoulder injury, later the Swiss lost to the eventual finalist, Medvedev.

The Spaniard, Rafael Nadal picked his fourth US Open title after the adrenaline gushing through his body for nearly five hours. Rafa was on tenterhooks when the lanky Russian, Daniil Medvedev had all the chances to take a 2-0 lead in the deciding set of Grand Slam final. His restlessness was springing up again when he failed to close out the championship match at 6-2 in the final set.

After reaching the finals at US Open 2019, Rafa becomes the only man in the history of tennis to make five major finals appearances after turning 30. Rafa’s victory adds another Slam to Big Three’s account and extending their major tally to 55.

“We have been here for 15 years almost,” said Rafael Nadal. “At some point, these days, going to happen sooner than later that this era going to end. Is arriving at the end. I am 33. Novak is 32. Roger is 38. Andy is 32, too. The clock is not stopping. That’s part of the cycle of life.”
