The women’s golf event at Tokyo Olympics 2020 is down to the final round. And it has been an enthralling experience for all the fans around the world to watch this exciting sport. Now, going into the final round, Team USA’s Nelly Korda leads the field with a score of -15. However, India’s Aditi Ashok is just three strokes behind her, with a score of -12.
Nelly Korda couldn’t capitalize and build on the lead that she had got after Round 2. She just managed to score three birdies and even dropped a shot on the 8th hole. However, India’s Aditi Ashok didn’t have the best of the rounds but remained in the top 3 and can become the first-ever Indian golfer to win an Olympic medal.

Aditi Ashok did not have the best of her rounds, as she was unlucky on quite a few holes. She started her round with three consecutive pars but then made three birdies on 4, 6, and 7 and went up to -12. But sadly, she dropped a shot on the 9th hole after finding a greenside bunker.
And after this, Ashok slightly lost her momentum and made another bogey on the 11th hole. Following up, she missed quite a few birdie opportunities in the next two holes as well. And it looked like the two dropped shots had unsettled her. But Aditi made an excellent comeback with two exceptional birdies on 15 and 17 to get back up on -12.

Aditi Ashok didn’t have a good round with her irons, especially her longer irons. The approach shots were wayward, because of which she dropped two shots. But as always, her strong putting skills came to her rescue. She made some phenomenal putts throughout the round and saved plenty of pars, and even made birdies.

Aditi Ashok, in her post-round interview, said it wasn’t the best of her play today. “Today, I think I didn’t have my best, especially hitting into the greens with the long club. So I think just saving the pars and staying patient because it wasn’t around where it never looked like I was going to shoot five or six under, whereas in the first two days, they kind of look like low rounds. I think staying patient and not confounding the errors.“
Additionally, she said she would like to play round 4 when asked if she would like to stop the game here with the thunderstorms approaching the venue on Saturday.

“I mean, I think golf is always a four-round tournament, and I think that’s the fairway to judge; you know 60 competitors so if we can play the fourth round, I’m more than welcome, and maybe I have a great day, and I have a chance to better in the second position and maybe that doesn’t happen, and everybody plays good, and I kind of hang back but either way I think four rounds, it’s kind of how golf usually is played and I hope it goes that way and we have enough good weather to get the fourth round in.”
