The men’s golf competition came to a grand conclusion at Tokyo Olympics 2020. After the end of four rounds, it was American Xander Schauffele who kept his cool and won the tournament with a one-stroke lead. The golf community rendered its praise to Schauffele, and so did his teammate Justin Thomas.

Team USA sent four golfers to Tokyo Olympics 2020 in hopes of a podium finish. Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Reed, and Xander Schauffele all donned USA’s colors at Tokyo, and it was the latter who fulfilled the prophecy.

The Americans were touted to clinch at least two medal positions at Tokyo Olympics 2020. While that, unfortunately, did not happen, Schauffele’s triumph filled the void. Moreover, teammate Justin Thomas was one of the first ones to congratulate Schauffele on his historic victory.
“So pumped for @xanderschauffele. Guy works his tail off and brought a First place medal to @teamusa!!! Massive congrats to him, his dad, caddie @austin_kaiser and everybody on his team for an unbelievable accomplishment. Well done bro!” Thomas wrote on Instagram.

This was such a wholesome message from Justin Thomas. The 2021 Players Championship winner did not find success at Tokyo Olympics 2020 but graciously applauded Schauffle for his gritty play at the Kasumigaseki Country Club.
Xander Schauffele brought the USA its first Olympic gold in golf for the first time since 1900. Moreover, with this triumph, he also maintained the United States’ 100% medal-winning record in golf competitions at the Olympic games.

Schauffele had to overcome nerves to post-victory at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. He did not have a commanding lead entering the final round but managed to keep his cool through 18 holes. Eventually, Schauffele won the tournament by a one-stroke lead.

Schauffele’s father is German and had his Olympic dream cut short due to an accident that blinded his left eye. Hence, Xander’s victory means so much to Stefan Schauffele as well, who has been integral towards his son’s success on the grand stage.
