The same is expected to happen at the Tokyo Olympics as well. When it comes to swimming, a majority of the medal hopes rests on the shoulders of Katie Ledecky.
Ledecky broke onto the Olympic scene in 2012 when she was just 15 years old. Such is the mighty talent that she possesses. Now, after two Olympic appearances in London and Rio, Ledecky is heading to Tokyo as Team USA’s best swimmer, alongside Caeleb Dressel.

Katie Ledecky won gold in the 800m freestyle as a 15YO at the Olympics. Hence, she is not someone who is new to the pressure of competing at the Summer Games. However, there are immense expectations on the shoulders of Ledecky going into the Tokyo Olympics, more than ever.
Katie Ledecky is competing in the most number of events in all of Team USA’s swimming roster. Since the 24-year-old is a freestyle specialist, she will take part in the 200 free, 400 free, 800 free, 1500 free in the Tokyo Olympics 2021.

Ledecky has won Olympic gold in all of the aforementioned events except for the 1500m free. This event will make its debut at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 and Ledecky is expected to outlast her competitors and take gold in his grueling race as well.
Ledecky is the most dominant athlete when it comes to women’s swimming. She holds the world record in the 400 meters, 800 meters, and 1,500 meters and not many swimmers can even come close to her timings in the 800 free.
Ledecky has a chance to clinch four individual gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics 2021. Besides these, she will also be a part of the 4×200 freestyle relay. Can she conquer all five and bring home the gold medals to the United States?
Ledecky names Katie Grimes as the “future”

Ledecky was just 15 when she made her Olympic debut. Everyone was astonished looking at her pace, and Katie Grimes is touted as Ledecky’s second coming. 15YO Katie Grimes is the youngest swimmer on Team USA’s roster.
She is all set to make her Olympic debut in Tokyo after finished second in the 800m free in the recently concluded Olympic trials. Grimes touched in behind Ledecky, who later had high praise for the 15-year-old.
“I told Katie Grimes after her third place in the mile that she was the future,” Ledecky mentioned. “Then I told her she is the NOW. That was incredible. I can’t believe how young this team is going to be.”
