Grant Holloway. Dominance. Power. Speed. The man isn’t just good — he’s a walking, talking track revolution. Three-time world champion in the 110m hurdles. World indoor record holder in the 60m hurdles at a ridiculous 7.27 seconds. Olympic silver medalist. Second-fastest 110m hurdler in history at 12.81 — breathing right down the neck of the world record.
And let’s be real — Holloway doesn’t just win, he demolishes. Championships, world stages, pressure moments — all crushed under his spikes like it’s just another day at the office. So when a national commentator ranked him second on their all-time hurdles list, fans didn’t just blink — they erupted.
Wanna know the backstory? Well, it all went down on the YouTube channel “The Final Leg Track & Field” in a video titled, “What’s Going on With Grant Holloway?… Is He the 110mH GOAT? | Top-15 All-Time Hurdlers.” Now, here’s the kicker: despite the video asking if Holloway is the greatest of all time, Anderson Emerole — an analyst and contributor to CITIUS MAG, who runs this podcast — ranked him second on his all-time list.

Yeah, you read that right. Even though the video was titled to hype up Holloway, Emerole decided to rank him second. So, this commentator is ranked 15th, Thomas Milbourne from the USA. On 14, he puts Terrence Trammell. At 13, it’s Hayes Jones, followed by Omar Parchment at 12, and Olympic gold medalist Darren Robson at 11. Aries Merritt lands at 10, with Willie Davenport at 9, Lee Calhoun at 8, and Tyrone Foster at 7. He then ranks Roger Kingdom at 6, Colin Jackson at 5, Liu Xiang of China at 4, and Lu Jiang of China at 3, all before Holloway.

And then, right at number 2, Grant Holloway. What? Fans were floored when they saw who was number one: Allen Johnson. Now, let’s put this into perspective: Grant Holloway is an absolute juggernaut in the hurdles game. Allen Johnson is a powerhouse as well — Olympic champion, four-time World champion, and a World Indoor gold medalist. While Johnson’s accomplishments are monumental, Holloway’s edge lies in his world record and Olympic gold.
Fans just couldn’t understand why he was placed second, especially when he’s been dominating the sport like no one else. They took to social media, calling out Emerole for this wild ranking and making it clear that Holloway belongs at the top. Fans weren’t having it, and the debate is now raging over who deserves the title of greatest of all time.

Fans rally behind Grant Holloway’s legacy despite two 2025 losses
“Man loses two races and people start acting like Grant Holloway ain’t the greatest of all-time.” One fan nailed it with that line, right? Grant Holloway has been on top of the hurdles world for so long, but suddenly, two losses in 2025 have everyone buzzing. First, in the Wanda Diamond League opener on April 26 in Xiamen, things went south after he clipped the seventh hurdle and just couldn’t recover, finishing dead last with a 13.72. Cordell Tinch took the win in a world-leading 13.06, while Muratake Rachid and Liu Junxi grabbed second and third. Definitely not the race Holloway had in mind.
But that wasn’t the first shocker. Earlier, at the Tom Jones Memorial, Holloway, fresh off his World Indoor Championships gold, lost to Trey Cunningham, who ran a world-leading 13.09. Holloway clocked a solid 13.18, but it wasn’t enough. Sure, it raised some eyebrows, but come on, even the best have their off days, right? Holloway’s still one of the greatest to ever do it—this little bump in the road won’t change that.

“Funnily enough, Allen said last year that Grant is now the GOAT,” one fan pointed out, and honestly, it’s hard to argue with that. Allen Johnson, a legend in the 110m hurdles, has been a huge mentor to Grant Holloway, who’s now made his mark. Grant Holloway’s always spoken highly of Johnson, and in an interview with Athleisure Mag, he said, “To be an Olympic Champion now and to run a sub-13 performance and to tie one of my mentors and greats, Allen Johnson (G1) in this event, I think that it is always a true humbling feeling.” That’s respect right there, and it shows how much of an impact Johnson has had on his career.
And it’s not just Holloway singing Johnson’s praises—Allen has been just as complimentary. Last year, Johnson didn’t hold back, calling Holloway the GOAT, and honestly, it makes sense. Even with a couple of tough races this year, Holloway’s resume speaks for itself. “Man, Grant Holloway has to be the greatest to ever do hurdles, there’s not even a debate,” one fan said, and honestly, it’s hard to argue with that.
Another fan was quick to add, “Very surprised with the decision to not have Grant Holloway on top when even others have claimed he is the best there ever was.” And another one jumped in with, “Surprised with your take, Grant is the best we have seen in a long time.” It’s clear the people are talking, and they’re all in on Holloway being the GOAT.

The realm of American 110-meter hurdling was previously led by Allen Johnson and Grant Holloway, who stand alongside each other as major figures in the discipline. The accomplishments of Johnson include receiving an Olympic gold in 1996, combined with winning four World Championships in 1995, 1997, 2001, and 200,3, and achieving a personal record of 12.92 seconds. The unbroken string of performances established Johnson as the highest standard for talent during his time on the track. His retirement in 2010 included a historic athletic legacy that remains standing tall.
Now, Grant Holloway continues the Olympic legacy. Holloway has maintained his Olympic gold position while winning three World Championship titles (2019, 2022, 2023) and achieving a personal record of 12.81 seconds, which proves his burning success. Holloway achieved global fame by lowering the 60-meter hurdles indoor world record to 7.27 seconds as reported in 2024. His 94 consecutive wins in the 60m hurdles? Legendary. Future success shows him standing to claim his place as one of the best athletes in history. The athletics world has two legendary figures, but Holloway has begun his 2020s dominance, which will forever remain in sporting memory.
