Tammi Musumeci is just days away from the biggest submission-grappling bout of her career, and the American star is clearly in good spirits ahead of her promotional bow at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video. 

Fans are eager to see how the sister of ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Champion Mikey “Darth Rigatoni” Musumeci performs in her first assignment inside the ONE Circle when she takes on Bianca Basilio this Friday, March 24.

Tammi is laser-focused on starting her tenure with a bang, of course. But she clearly doesn’t want to give away too much of her game plan or strategy.

When asked how her grappling skill set differs from her brother’s arsenal, the multiple-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion described herself as a ‘cheap imitation’ of the flyweight submission grappling king.

Tammi shared: 

 “I feel I’m like Mikey. I like to joke around and say I’m a knock-off version of him. He gets mad when I say that. I’m like Mikey, I feel. I’m trying to be like Mikey. I feel like I also have some pressure on top, which is a little different. I do some little things differently than him, I think because we have different body types. But I feel like a lot of the time, [my style] is closer to his style.”

After all, the two siblings have a connection beyond just the toys they shared as kids.

Going strong in the promotion together

They started training BJJ together in the garage of the house they grew up in. After that, the Musumeci siblings joined the same gym and worked their way up the ranks.  

While Mikey went on to build a reputation as one of the best submission-grappling artists in modern history, Tammi took a brief detour to focus on university.

However, she still managed to establish herself as a force in the local scene during that period.

Today, the Musumecis share an incredible list of accolades between them. With Mikey already laying his hands on ONE gold, all that’s left for Tammi is to work her way to a divisional strap in ONE Championship.
