However, a second emphatic victory over 12-time flyweight World Champion Johnson at ONE 161: Moraes vs. Johnson II on 26 August, will push the Brazilian star toward that goal.

“This fight is very important for my legacy because I want to make as many title defenses as I can during my career,” Moraes offered.

“And [another] victory over him will help a lot in building that legacy.”

“Mikinho” added his name to the MMA history books when he became the first athlete to knock Johnson out at ONE on TNT I in April last year.

He dominated the American legend in their World Title showdown, then put his opponent’s lights out with a knee to the head slightly before the midway point of the second round.

Moraes would love to score another finish in his upcoming bout, and this time he’s aiming to achieve it in a different manner.

“This is the kind of fight that is very difficult to predict. Demetrious Johnson is a very smart guy, very tough, and I know he’s coming in very hungry for this rematch,” the American Top Team product said.

“I’m training a lot. I want to show my evolution as an athlete, so I believe I can get a submission in the fourth round.”

Adriano Moraes is ready for all the contenders

Moraes is confident that he can go 2-0 against “Mighty Mouse,” but Johnson will be a challenging test for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist. The Washington native’s record speaks for itself, and the status of “GOAT” isn’t adorned onto just anyone.

But “Mikinho” is top dog in the ONE’s flyweight division, and he knows exactly what that entails.

“As champion, I have to defend my title. Regardless of who my opponent is, I have to be ready on the scheduled date to do my job in the best possible way,” he said.
