Pakistan team have been going through a tough time since the ICC World Cup where they failed to reach the semi-final. Criticising the team management after the dismal performance of Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Pakistan in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, former Pakistan captain Aamir Sohail has taken a dig at the new fitness regime of the players that not helping the players on improving their skill. Pakistan are placed at number one in T20Is but they have lost 0-3 to Sri Lanka in the three-match series played at the Gaddafi Stadium.
“In Pakistan cricket these days we are concentrating more on fitness and it appears that we are preparing our players less for cricket and more for the Olympics or WWE Wrestling,” Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq quoted Aamir Sohail as saying.
Recently, Misbah-ul-Haq has appointed as the head coach as well as the chief selector of Pakistan who introduced a strict diet plan in order to make the players more fit and agile on the ground than before. He has said that the players wouldn’t have biryani or oil-rich red meat meals or sweet dishes from now on.
Pakistan players faced a lot of criticisms after their loss to India in the World Cup earlier this year. After the game, a Pakistani fan poted a video on social media where he accused captain Sarfraz Ahmed and the team were eating “pizza and burger” before the match against India which they eventually lost by a massive margin at the Old Trafford on June 16.
However, Pakistan players faced their second T20I series whitewash after England beat them in 2015 in the United Arab Emirates. Pakistan will next play against Australia for a three-match T20I series and a two-match Test series in Australia.
