Kevin Pietersen who entertained one and all with his brand of fearless and flamboyant cricket, has had a few rough years will return to his roots. The 35-year-old is all set to play for Sunfoil Dolphins in the upcoming Ram Slam T20, the local T20 tournament of South Africa.
“I’m very excited to return to Durban in a few weeks’ time and contribute towards the Sunfoil Dolphins’ cause. Having grown up in KZN it is obviously a place that means something quite special to me and to have the opportunity to play there again is something I’m really looking forward to,” said Pietersen.
“The Ram Slam T20 looks to be an exciting tournament and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of the action for the first time this summer. The Dolphins have some talented individuals and hopefully I can contribute towards the team’s success during my time with them,” he added.
Pietersen left the African shores in 2001 and after that there was no looking back for him. As soon as he made his debut for England, he became a sensation in no time. His charisma and swagger on and off the field was something to envy for.
All came to halt for him, because of his altercations with the ECB and eventually he was axed from the team.
Since then the English veteran batsman has tried his luck in various leagues like CPL, BPL, IPL etc and now, it’s the turn of South African Ram Slam league.
Let’s see how he fares in the upcoming competition.
