In what was a historical night for SS Lazio and in hindsight for Serie A too, the mighty Juventus were taken down. The Serie A team shocked the 10-man champions by coming from behind to beat them 3-1.

The loss to Lazio not only gave Maurizio Sarri his first loss as the Juventus manager but also displaced Juventus from top of the table with Inter Milan leapfrogging them with a two points gap.

An evenly contested match was turned around in the 69th minute when Juventus right back Juan Cuadrado made a rash challenge on Manuel Lazzari after he was set free by a Luis Alberto through ball, but Cuadrado got his challenge all wrong and was sent off by the referee leaving the champions one man short.

The scoring was opened by Cristiano Ronaldo with a well taken close range finish in the 25th minute but his goal was cancelled by a Luis Felipe equaliser in the first half stoppage time. The rest two goal came in the final 20 minutes after Cuadrado’s dismal with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Felipe Caicedo’s goals drowning Juventus.

While the referee was quite assured about the red card, Sarri had different views on it as he was quoted saying, “I don’t agree that it was a clear scoring chance because the ball was going away from the goal, A yellow card would have been the fair decision, it seemed a bit harsh but that’s how it went.

“When the game seemed to be more balanced, the red card changed everything… The title race? Lazio are there as well as ourselves and Inter.”

The Juventus manager already seems unsure about his title defense.
