Indian ace shuttler PV Sindhu has recently been nominated for the prestigious Padma Bhushan awards. The Sports Ministry had recommended her name for this award. Ever since she won the silver medal at the Rio Olympics back in 2016, there has been no stopping her. After MS Dhoni, Sindhu is the second athlete to be nominated for the award. A Sports Ministry official said “Yes, we have recommended Sindhu for Padma Bhushan”.

At the recently concluded World Badminton Championships last month, Sindhu won the silver medal. Also, at the Korea Open Super Series, Sindhu defeated Japanese opponent Nozomi Okuhara to win the Super Series title in Korea. With that, she became the first Indian to win that title. The 22-year old has also climbed up the rankings to 2nd. In March 2015, she was awarded India’s 4th highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri.
