Rafael Nadal Reveals What Went Wrong Against Alexander Zverev

The defending champion, Alexander Zverev crushed the top-seed, Rafael Nadal in the opener of ATP World Tour Finals 2019, and the Spaniard revealed that he didn’t have enough practice time which thereby effected the consequences of the match.

World Number one, Rafa was well assured that he will be having a tough day at the office as Alexander Zverev will be a challenging opponent. Besides the lack of practice time, Rafael Nadal was physically 100 percent fit for the match. His abdominal pain is no longer persisting and he is positive about his stay in London.

“I did not feel pain in the abdominal at all. We can find reasons or excuses, but at the end of the day, what all really matters is I need to play much better in two days after tomorrow,” Rafael Nadal said.

I have no margin for error and I’m feeling bad because I lost a game I didn’t like. I accept the feeling that it was not good,” the Spanish legend added.

His 6-2, 6-4 bitter loss to Alexander Zverev depicted a rare side of Rafael Nadal. His serving percentage was undoubtedly poor. Nadal hit 13 winners. The Spaniard did not come across any moment where he could exercise his control in the match.

His forehand was the worst I’ve ever seen it,” Jim Courier said referring to Nadal’s performance at ATP World Tour Finals 2019 on Monday.

With this win, the defending champion, Alexander Zverev has now beaten Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in consecutive matches at the O2 Arena. The German lad defeated Nadal for the very first time in his career.

“This means so much, playing here again after winning my biggest title so far in my career here last year. This means everything to me,” Zverev said.

Earlier on Monday, Stefanos Tsitsipas attained his first-ever victory against Daniil Medvedev in their past six meetings. The duo exhibited some quality tennis with the Greek lad getting hold of the only break of serve towards the end of the second set.
