Rafael Nadal Watches Chernobyl and Stranger Things to Take a Break From Tennis

World No.2 Rafael Nadal raised the 19th Grand Slam title of his career after defeating the first time Grand Slam finalist Daniil Medvedev 7-5, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4 in an exciting final at the US Open 2019 on Sunday.

The Spaniard is, however, not thinking about tennis as he is treating himself with a well-deserved getaway at his home in Mallorca, Spain. The 33-year-old had a long 2019 season, playing 53 matches so far with a win-loss record of 47-6 and so, he is taking some time off the court before rejoining the tour at the Laver Cup 2019.

In an audio interview with El Partidazo de Cope, Rafael Nadal revealed that he has been watching some TV series and not trying to think about tennis in order to disconnect from the sport. The 19-time Grand Slam champion also divulged that he has started watching Chernobyl and Stranger Things in the last couple of days.

“I have been lying on the sofa at home watching some series and trying not to think much about tennis. I started watching Chernobyl and then Stranger Things,” the Mallorcan said.

Rafael Nadal, who has reduced his schedule in the 2019 season to prevent injuries will feature in the Laver Cup 2019, which is scheduled to start from September 20. However, the Spaniard is unsure about his schedule ahead of the Laver Cup.

The world No.2 suggested that the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals are still on his calendar. However, his participation at the Shanghai Masters is still undecided.

Talking about his schedule, Nadal said, “My immediate schedule is to play the Laver Cup. Then I do not know. I should speak to the team. It’s clear that the ATP Finals and Paris Bercy are on the calendar.”

Rafael Nadal is just 640 points behind Novak Djokovic to dethrone the Serb from the number 1 position on the ATP rankings.
