Rod Laver Makes Bold Prediction About Roger Federer For Australian Open 2020

The 11-time Grand Slam champion, Rod Laver believes that Roger Federer has bright chances to win the Australian Open 2020. Federer will be concluding his tennis season 2019 without a major title and Laver believes that he might compensate to it next year in Melbourne.

“He seems to be fine and that’s what counts. If you love the game as much as you do, that’s fine. I also give Roger a very good chance of winning the Australian Open again in Melbourne in January,” Rod Laver addressed a Swiss publication Aargauer.

Rod Laver further spoke about Roger Federer’s personality in the world outside. He portrayed Federer to be the global face of tennis. His effortless moves on the tennis court, his perfect arc backhand, brisk serve-and-volley, and his fluidity, everything radiates beauty when he strikes the tennis ball.

Roger Federer

He is the ultimate paragon of grace and a highly romanticized artist in the sporting era. Even if Federer’s Grand Slam records get outdone by his longtime rivals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, they can never be superior to Federer in the remaining aspects of the game.

“Nadal, Djokovic, and Federer are all big champions. But Roger surpasses tennis, the world of sport, and sports in general in a way that no one in history has done before him. He is the most recognized athlete in the world and a figurehead for this great game,” Rod Laver added.

Wimbledon 2019 final

In July, Roger Federer played a marathon Wimbledon final match against Novak Djokovic. Everyone noticed it was the Swiss who was the better player in the battle. The Serb’s ability to defend the dictation of Federer and transmuting the ‘Come on Roger!’ cheers into ‘Come on Novak!’ paved his path to the Wimbledon trophy.

The Swiss evaporated two championship points under the English sun and gave a chance to Djokovic to lift his fifth Wimbledon crown. Regardless of the outcome of the Wimbledon final, Federer will be remembered for his fight that day in SW19.
