Roger Federer Brings Out “Dad Jokes” After Defeating Marton Fucsovics

Roger Federer and John McEnroe had a hilarious interaction post his round 4 matchup. In his post-match interview, Federer mocked the name of his quarterfinal opponent Tennys Sandgren.

McEnroe, who is known for his tongue in cheek commentary, asked a funny question which Federer knocked out of the ballpark.

John McEnroe was in a fun mood as he asked Federer a question about the name of his quarterfinals opponent –

“Your next match is against a guy, I think he’s got the greatest name for tennis in tennis history. His name is Tennys Sandgren. I don’t know why his parents named him tennis but god bless him, he’s in the quarter-finals.”

Roger was at his humourous best as he replied with an equally witty comment –

“He’s not going to be a baseball player, that’s for sure.”

As Roger Federer and the crowd erupted in laughter, he made another dad joke –

“I’ve played a lot of tennis in my life but never against Tennys.”

All jokes aside, Roger will definitely not take Tennys Sandgren lightly. The American player has already knocked out two seeded players in the tournament.

He made two big Italian players in the form of Matteo Berrettini and Fabio Fognini his victims. In the third round, he beat experienced tennis player and his compatriot Sam Querry. Needless to say, Tennys is in some hot form.

While on the other hand, Roger Federer has not faced a seeded player in the Australian Open yet. Despite that, he has been struggling in matches. Even though, he uses his experience to make the end result positive.

Today, against Fucsovics, he was seen struggling in the first set. However, he made a strong comeback to win the next three sets decisively. Till now, even though Federer might be looking stronger, Sandgren cannot be counted out.
