Roger Federer Ends Novak Djokovic’s World Number One Hopes at ATP World Tour Finals 2019

In the hyped match of the ATP World Tour Finals 2019, Roger Federer vs Novak Djokovic, the Swiss legend finally snapped his six-match losing streak against the Serb after a 6-4, 6-3 victory on London’s O2 Arena. He progresses into the semifinals of ATP Finals and assures the year-end World Number one spot to Rafael Nadal.

Set One:

The match began with Roger Federer having an opportunity to break Novak Djokovic’s serve, but the Serb made a gutsy-hold. Smooth game of tennis from the Swiss for a 1-1 scoreline.

Djokovic played an error-filled game and got broken to love with back to back unforced errors and two double faults and Federer led by 2-1.

Whirlwind serving from Federer bamboozled Djokovic as he was failing to make contact with the ball while the Swiss was serving. Federer served out to love for a 4-2 lead.

Slamming a return winner on the best returners court!

The fiery serves from Federer gave his sixth ace of the match. He held to love at 5-3.

Errors from Djokovic at 5-3, moved the Swiss two points closer from taking off the set, but the Serb managed to produce a hold.

The Roger Federer mode was 100% on and Novak Djokovic was failing to place the ball on the other side to the net. World Number three, Federer once again served out to love and pulled off the set 6-4.

Set Two:

The Serb once again survived a scare and saved two break points to get the opening hold. Not good gestures from Novak as he dropped his racquet and held his elbow, nevertheless, his court coverage was incredible while Federer was dictating his service game at 1-1.

Beautiful hands on the backhand side by Federer were portrayed, as Djokovic raised the level of his game at 2-1.


A revived Djokovic was seen after the changeover, he earned his first break point with a forehand winner, but the Federer scored it out for a 2-2 settlement.

Djokovic’s error-strewn game aided Roger to break him to 15 and take a 3-2 lead in the second set and later consolidated for a 4-2 scoreline.


Unforced errors from the Serb persisted and Federer broke him to love to pull off a victory against the Serb!
