“MS Dhoni is the one who has been like that. It’s in-born. It has helped him to make such good decisions on the field and now you see he is the most successful Indian captain with all three ICC trophies with him and many IPL titles as well,” he said. “He is the best captain India has seen and there’s a reason behind it – which is being calm and composed under a situation.”

Rohit then shared how Dhoni has led India successfully across formats. Although Virat Kohli has taken over the captaincy from him, he remains a key player in the Indian team. He not only guides the youngsters but also helps in decision making.

“I have seen him handle a lot of young bowlers when they get under pressure, he just goes and puts his arm around them and talk to them about what needs to be done. When a younger player is treated like that by a senior member of the team, you obviously feel confident and you want to deliver for the team,” the flamboyant opener said.

On the other hand, MS Dhoni made himself unavailable for selection following the ICC World Cup 2019. He missed the home series against West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh and recently Australia as well. However, he started preparation for the upcoming IPL recently with Jharkhand’s Ranji team. His fluent batting impressed the coach also.

India head coach Ravi Shastri has also commented on the future of Dhoni. He said Dhoni’s future depends on the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Moreover, the head coach of Indian team also said former India captain may clear the air on his retirement after IPL.
