It was a disaster for Sebastian Vettel as he was forced to retire from the US Grand Prix 2019. The German driver had a fairly normal start, before he was overtaken by Lewis Hamilton and his own teammate Charles Leclerc. It got worse when McLaren’s Lando Norris and Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo also moved past.

Then, while he was chasing Ricciardo and Norris, he got on the kerbs at Turn 8 and his suspension gave way. For some strange reason, Sebastian Vettel had relatively poor pace and was complaining of understeer. Sadly, the kerbs did him in and it would seem that the extremely bumpy layout was to blame.

Afterwards, the Ferrari team radioed Charles Leclerc, the sole surviving car, to stay away from the kerbs at Turn 8. The Monegasque driver questioned them initially, before he was told of Vettel’s retirement. So, Leclerc has been left to fly the flag for the Maranello outfit.
