Short Ball could be RCB’s Secret Weapon Against KKR

The Kolkata Knight Riders slumped to a surprising defeat against the Delhi Daredevils on the latter’s home turf. Shreyas Iyer was the hero of the day with the willow. The KKR batting order collapsed spectacularly despite an Andre Russell cameo.

As a result, they suffered their fourth defeat in the tournament. In the points table, KKR are tottering in the fourth position and on the bubble. Tonight, they face the Royal Challengers Bangalore in an away match at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The competition for the top four positions is fiercer than ever. Every team in the league table is trying everything in their inventory to outclass their opponents.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s men will be busy charting out their strategies to combat the Knight Riders. Former India captain, Sunil Gavaskar has suggested that short-pitched bowling might be the Knight Riders’ weakness. The short delivery has plagued quite a few KKR batsmen and RCB can implement it effectively.

Kiwi pacer Trent Boult is capable of bowling a couple of short ones. Those were able to outfox the likes of Sunil Narine and Robin Uthappa. Chris Lynn has struggled with facing the ‘chin-music’. It was a bit of a surprise, Since Lynn has been brought up on Australian wickets which are well-known for producing short balls. Russell, another big hitter can also be belled by using the delivery to good effect.

The Chinnaswamy pitch has been particularly kind to the batsmen. Conversely, it is quite unforgiving for the bowlers. They are expected to have another tough day at the office as the game is speculated to be a run-fest

RCB really need this win to get their season in the groove. KKR also need to win to stand a chance of getting in the top 4.
