With Daniil Kvyat now racing for Toro Rosso in 2019, it means that his Ferrari simulator role is up for grabs. Now, it seems that two drivers may be eyeing the vacant simulator job at Ferrari for next season.

Russian driver Kvyat was a Ferrari development driver after being ousted by Toro Rosso in 2017. To be more specific, he was heading the Italian team’s efforts in the simulator.

Now, compatriot and out-of-favor Williams driver Sergey Sirotkin admitted to Russian publication, Championat that he may be interested in that role. Especially now that Kvyat is returning to the grid with Toro Rosso.

“Next week we will resolve this issue, especially if we set ourselves the goal of returning to formula one in 2020,” the Russian said.

“That is potentially a very good place, because you embrace three teams at once — Haas, Sauber and Ferrari,” Sirotkin added. “It is a great option.”

Also, Polish driver Robert Kubica eyed the Ferrari test role prior to securing his Williams race seat. Yet another contender for the 2019 place is former Mercedes protege Pascal Wehrlein.

The German driver will be racing in Formula E for Indian outfit Mahindra Racing. However, he will not be taking part in the opening round this weekend as he is still contracted with Mercedes. Said contract is set to expire in January, after which, he will be racing for Mahindra full-time.

So, his place for Saudi Arabia will be taken by former Mahindra driver Felix Rosenqvist. The Swedish driver will partner Belgium’s Jerome D’Ambrosio.
