“The Ooh Aah Cantona!”- UFC Superstar Conor McGregor Comes Up With a Soccer Kick and Names It After a Manchester United Legend

MMA star Conor McGregor, a boyhood Manchester United fan, has paid tribute to the former United legend uniquely in a recent social media post. McGregor shared a tweet consisting of an old video from the gym in Dublin where he was seen striking his teammate.
Irish fighter drew the comparison between his strike to that of the famous Eric Cantona kung-fu kick. He went further by naming the kick after the United legend.

The famous kung-fu kick of Eric Cantona that McGregor talked about
Conor McGregor captioned the social media post with the old video, ” I call this shot the “ooh aah Cantona!”Jumping backside kick followed by a jumping knee straight to the solar plexus. Shots of a real baller.” While describing the video to his mate in the gym, McGregor named his strike after Eric Cantona’s famous kung-fu kick, back in 1995.
The four-time Premier League winner with Manchester United was known for his temper issues on and off the field. Cantona was a vital part of the team and a famous ‘Class of 92’ at United. He played an important role in the four league titles between 1992-93 and 1996-97, which was his last season at United.

Cantona made the headlines in his third season at Manchester United for a massive controversy. On 25th January 1995, Cantona got a straight red card for a bad foul on a Crystal Palace player. When he was going back to the tunnel, he launched an infamous kung-fu kick at the fan, followed by a series of punches.
The Crystal Palace fan in question confronted Cantona after the red card and abused him. United star was subject to massive disciplinary sanctions after the incident. McGregor recalled that infamous kick recently while preparing for a comeback to the action after injury.
On McGregor nearing a return and his Manchester United connection
McGregor broke his leg in a fight against Dustin Poirier in July this year. He has been out of UFC action since then. The Irish fighter is close to his full recovery now and will be able to make it to the ring soon. However, there are no fights planned yet for the former UFC Champion.

McGregor is a boyhood Manchester United fan and shared how he bought his first United jersey at 8, back in 2019. He is a big fan of the success and mentality of the club. McGregor labeled legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson as the don of soccer. Last year the Irish fighter made his desire to buy the United public.
