Trinity Rodman Unveils the Reason Behind Choosing Soccer Over Following in Father Dennis Rodman’s Footsteps
To stand out the way Trinity Rodman has done is commendable, to say the least. Born to the legendary Dennis Rodman who won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year twice, Rodman chose to be an attacker in the beautiful game. But how did she come to make that choice? Citing that ‘people don’t believe’ her to have snubbed her father’s sport, Rodman brings to light how she was made for soccer.
Trinity always possessed a score-to-win mentality and prowess in hitting the net, dribbling past all obstacles. Although these qualities fit well with both soccer and basketball, she went with soccer. Speaking to Sam Mewis on The Women’s Game podcast, Trinity said, “When I first started playing soccer, which people don’t believe,” she and her mother often discuss that Rodman “never understood the concept of like oh we’re playing just for fun,” citing diligence towards the game as a starting point. However, she also gave an insight into how it worked.
The 21-year-old further said, “I was not laughing, I wasn’t smiling, like I wanted to win, I wanted to score goals, I wanted to dribble everyone, I wanted to win and I think that started, really young. But like I only had that for soccer and that’s the thing,” pointing out her passion. Speaking about other sports, she said, “Other sports I kind of, was okay this isn’t it. Like I know that,” giving less preference to them.

Meanwhile, Trinity earlier stated that she wanted to make her own identity. Even though she credits the senior Rodman for inheriting athletic genes, Rodman said she “wants to be known as Trinity Rodman and not just as (Dennis) Rodman’s daughter,” which she has achieved with great skill.

Trinity Rodman’s mind-blowing revelation about her soccer skills
Trinity Rodman made her mark with 7 goals with 7 assists for her country and 21 goals for Washington Spirit. But her play goes beyond numbers. Whether a nutmeg or a surreal dribble, Rodman confesses that she performs her amazing skills naturally without much thinking. She also stated, “I don’t think I’m thinking at all I think that’s like why it works so much because it is so natural,” saying that it happens at the moment to get out of the situation. Rodman felt that the ideas come spontaneously to pull off skills such as a 360-degree turn.
