Rosie Hughes began her journey in grassroots football, and now she is a leading striker for a club backed by Hollywood elites. Initially, she played football out of a passion for the game without earning a single penny from it. Fortunately, her skills were recognized by the right people, and Hughes secured a semi-pro contract with Wrexham A.F.C. Presently, the Welsh footballer is basking in the glow of the recognition she is receiving from the world. Surprisingly, Hughes has another side that football lovers are not at all familiar with.

When she is not scoring goals on the field, the 28-year-old works as a prison officer. Hughes is proud of being both a prison officer and a footballer at the same time. She wanted to keep these two different worlds separate and away from each other. Nonetheless, things took a different turn when her footage with Wrexham’s co-owner, Ryan Reynolds, went viral.

Hughes has earned her spotlight moments as a player on Wrexham’s women’s team. Within a short time, she has achieved many significant moments in the club. She became a shining star of the team when she achieved a crucial goal before a crowd nearing 10,000. Not many are aware of the Wrexham star’s off-pitch life. Away from the roar of the football lovers, Hughes is dedicated to her role as a prison officer at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham.

Recently, in an interview with BBC Sport Wales, Hughes revealed that she never mentioned being a footballer with the prisoners. However, the beans were spilled when she and Ryan Reynolds appeared together in a video. Hughes gave an interview with Reynolds at the Racecourse Ground, and it was broadcast on Football Focus on television. The prisoners came across the viral interview and soon realized that she was a player at Wrexham.

She said, “With prisoners, you tend to be friendly, not friends. You build relationships with them, but you keep it on a level where you don’t want to talk about anything personal. However, I think there was a clip of me and Ryan Reynolds and my goal on Football Focus. So a lot of the prisoners watched that, they saw that, recognized me and they thought I was the best thing ever.

Even though her secret was out, Hughes was extremely elated about the love and attention she received from the prisoners. Even after achieving fame as a footballer, Hughes is not ready to leave her job as a prison officer, as she is proud of being one.
