“Absolutely Fantastic!” – France Legend Defends Sergio Ramos For Yelling at Fan After Sevilla’s 2-0 Loss

Despite being one of the greatest defenders of all time, and an iconic leader, Sergio Ramos has garnered infamy for his insolent nature. Now, the soccer world has once again seen his tempers flaring. After losing 2-0 to Athletic Club, Sevilla is now a point away from being in the relegation zone. A frustrated fan got under the captain’s skin from the stands. And the 37-year-old angrily shushed them. Though the player’s gesture may come across as impertinent, ex-soccer star Frank Lebouef thinks the Spaniard has all the ‘right to say shut up to somebody,’ who does not respect him.
“Show a little respect, we’re talking. Have a little respect towards the people and the badge. Respect the people. Shut up already!,” said Sergio Ramos angrily to a fan who shouted at him from the stands and interrupted his post-match interview. Lebouef thinks Ramos did the right thing.

Sergio Ramos’ heated exchange with the Sevilla fan became a talking point in a recent ESPN FC episode. Host Ale Moreno opined that the Sevilla supporter’s frustration was bigger than that of Ramos’. Frank Lebouef, however, was completely supportive of the Sevilla captain. “I think what Sergio did is absolutely fantastic because, yes, you’ve the right to say shut up to somebody. But when you come back to the camera and you say ‘well you know it’s not for them it’s already for us and then they’re going to come with us.’ He’s clever. He’s really involved and I like that. He’s taking responsibility for his act,” Lebouef said.
