Cristiano Ronaldo arrived as one of the first marquee players in the Saudi League. Neymar, Benzema, N’Golo Kante and others also signed for the cash-rich league shortly thereafter. They have all done well for their sides, bringing tremendous fanfare and world-class play along with them. However, an Al Hilal star player believes that none of these stars are the best foreign signing in the league.

Al-Nassr’s $30 million prospect was recently praised by a Saudi Arabian goalkeeper. The 32-year-old Al Hilal player placed the Croatian midfielder on a pedestal above stars like Neymar, Benzema and Ronaldo.

Saudi Pro League teams have spent big money on their foreign signings. However, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Neymar, and Kante have generated the most attention. If one is asked about the best foreign signing in the league, they would like pick between Ronaldo and Neymar. However, Al Hilal goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais disagrees.

The 32-year-old feels that Al-Nassr’s Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will emerge from the ranks this year. The Al Hilal star said, “I expect Brozovic to be the best foreign player in the Saudi League this season”.

Al-Nassr signed Marcelo Brozovic this summer from Inter Milan. The Croatian international has provided stability to the Saudi side in the midfield. He has also helped the other midfielders join in the attack.

Brozovic did not play against Damac as the team did not want to aggravate the midfielder’s previously injured ankle. Thankfully, Ronaldo & Co held the fort down. The Croatian is now set to return tomorrow against Philippe Coutinho’s Al-Duhail.

The Saudi League now is going to get more exciting. This is because places at the top of the table are going to open up because of the injury problems of Al Hilal.

Al Hilal is currently at the top of the Saudi Pro League while Al-Nassr is currently in third place. However, Cristiano Ronaldo and his squad have an advantage over Al Hilal.

The league leaders have lost their star player Neymar because of his injury in the World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay. The Brazilian is likely to miss the rest of the season. This makes this season in the Saudi Pro League interesting as it opens places at the top of the table.

Al Hilal looked even more dangerous after Neymar had started playing regularly in the international break. Unfortunately, his injury has disrupted the flow. Simultaneously, Al-Nassr has the advantage of an in-form Cristiano Ronaldo on the team.
