Al Nassr Reignites Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane’s Reunion Possibility With a Tempting New Offer- Reports

With Raphael Varane’s Manchester United contract set to expire this June, rumors have been linking him to Al Nassr to reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo. The Saudi Arabian powerhouse reportedly offered Varane a $63 million-a-year contract in February. Anyhow, the Frenchman is still at a crossroads between a potentially extended Premier League stay and a move to Saudi. Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that Ronaldo’s side has improved their offer for the former Real Madrid defender.
As per @Nfcdiario which posts Al Nassr-related news on X, the club has already sent a new offer to Raphael Varane. According to the post, which credited the renowned soccer journalist, Ben Jacobs, Varane is optimistic about joining the Riyadh-based outfit. Moreover, Al Nassr’s new offer is ‘very strong in terms of salaries‘. Besides the Cristiano Ronaldo-led side, Al Ittihad is also interested in landing the defender in the summer. If Varane finds Al Ittihad more enticing, he will reunite with fellow Real Madrid veteran, Karim Benzema.

However, the rumor mill understands that Manchester United might backtrack from previous decisions. Earlier, United reportedly decided not to trigger a contract extension for the 30-year-old. This was perhaps because of his high wages. Varane is the club’s second-highest earner behind Casemiro, with a $429k per week paycheck. Anyway, it won’t be a surprise if the Red Devils would want the Frenchman to stay. He is one of the most decorated players at Old Trafford right now. Interestingly, he has won most of it while playing together with Cristiano Ronaldo. Therefore, reuniting the two is a promising move for Al Nassr as well.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane won big when they played together
Raphael Varane joined Real Madrid two years after Cristiano Ronaldo moved to the Spanish capital. During his first year, Varane won a La Liga title in the 2011-12 season, which was also Ronaldo’s first La Liga title with Madrid. Then the duo won the La Liga again in 2016-17. Anyhow, this domestic success is quite minor compared to the duo’s mammoth European success. The Portuguese stalwart and the Frenchman won a staggering four UEFA Champions League titles in five years with Los Blancos! Besides, these two were at Madrid’s epicenter during several triumphant campaigns at the FIFA Club World Cup, the Spanish Super Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.

Later in the summer of 2021, Raphael Varane would leave Madrid for United. A month later, Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus for his second coming to the Old Trafford. While the duo’s spell in England was not close to their Spanish stint, their camaraderie has remained the same. If the Red Devils facilitated a reunion of the 2016 Euro winner and the 2018 World Champion, can Al Nassr be far behind? Only time will tell.
