Ligue 1 has also produced some of soccer’s greatest talents. Kylian Mbappe, Zinedine Zidane, and Thierry Henry have come through it. But the league has been attracting fans via Kylian Mbappe and his team Paris Saint-Germain for the longest time. Even though the club was performing decently, after his arrival, it hit a sharp spike. In recent years, the World Cup winner has been fancied to move overseas. However, the Frenchman’s departure to Real Madrid will not affect PSG, recently claimed a former French soccer player.

The French club has bought many star players from outside to enhance the league’s popularity, but Kylian Mbappe has been the root of their hype in the last few years. The club, however, has underperformed in Europe but is still the best team in France.

Qatari owners took the club from Paris in 2011. Since then, they have been French domestic champions nine times out of eleven. Kylian Mbappe joined the club in 2018, but even before he arrived, the club had won a few League Cups with other stars. France’s World Cup winner Frank Leboeuf on ESPN FC Extra Time said, “As long as they have money, as long as they spend it to get top players, no, I don’t see Paris Saint-Germain seeing the end of it.”

He felt that the club had enough money to sustain its position in Ligue 1. He felt that their readiness to spend the money to keep buying top players was sufficient. PSG had talented players like Marco Verratti, Edison Cavani, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the main stars in their initial years of rise. In addition, LeBoeuf felt the players before Kylian Mbappe were able to put the club at the top of the league as well.

PSG did not win or even reach the semi-finals of the Champions League for more than 20 years before the star from Monaco arrived. However, the former French defender felt they were good enough in the European competitions as well. In short, PSG won’t witness a heavy downfall in case their country’s biggest and most popular soccer player decides to leave.
