Real Madrid icon Marcelo has played with some of the best players throughout his career. However, no one might be able to top his partnership alongside former Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. The duo were a threat during their time in La Liga, troubling defense with their tandem offense. The Brazilian, who plays for Fluminense, spread lavish praise on his current teammate, comparing him with the Al Nassr superstar.
The Brazilian was linked to a move to reunite with Cristiano earlier this year. However, the player decided to snub the move to Saudi Arabia to join its former side, Fluminense. Following his move back to Brazil, the player has made 37 appearances for the team this season, establishing himself as a crucial player for the team.

Marcelo compares prolific Argentine marksman to Cristiano Ronaldo
Significantly, the former Real Madrid left-back plays for Fluminense alongside thirty-five-year-old German Cano. The Argentine striker has been in dominant form this season and has found a telepathic groove alongside Marcelo. The Brazilian, in an interview, touched on his partnership with the Argentine, comparing him to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Marcelo stated, “The guys really kick everything into the goal! There’s not a lot of talk! And they both score a lot of goals, right? I’m not comparing Cristiano Ronaldo with Cano, but Cristiano always said to me: ‘Kick it. It will come in at any time. German has this stop. He kicks everyone. He doesn’t care there.”
While Marcelo enjoys his time at Fluminense, he could have reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo. According to reports, Saudi side Al-Nassr was keen on signing the Brazilian. However, the Brazilian had chosen to return to his home club.
Marcelo snubbed a move to Al Nassr this summer
The former Real Madrid star had an opportunity to join Saudi side Al Nassr earlier this summer. The SPL team was keen on acquiring the player’s signatures in hopes of reuniting him with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the negotiations between the two sides fell through, with Al Nassr failing to act quickly.
With the deal on the verge of collapsing, his former side, Fluminense, swooped in and secured his signatures. According to Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade, the former Real Madrid star was extremely close to joining Al Nassr.

— Bruno Andrade (@brunoandrd) February 24, 2023
Andrade stated, as translated, “With Cristiano Ronaldo in his sights, Marcelo was in talks with Al Nassr, who, however, could only move forward with the signing in June, when he would still have to free up a foreigner’s place in the squad.
